"Trondheim Open was first held in 2011, and since then it has been a celebration of the region's art scene and a meeting place for artists, cultural workers and the public. This year's festival is the seventh version and can be experienced from the 21st - 30th of October 2022.

Our main activity is Open Studios, where professional artists throughout the county invite the public into their production space. The festival program also includes the Art Market, a panel discussion, artist talks, workshops and exhibitions.

The festival was initiated by a group of artists in Trondheim and is today managed by the trade unions Trøndelag Bildende Kunstnere (TBK) and Norske Kunsthåndverkere Midt-Norge (NKM). The purpose of Trondheim Open is to highlight and convey professional artistic activity in Trondheim and Trøndelag to a wide audience.

On the last weekend of the festival, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of October, the artists open their doors and welcome you in. Find out who is where on our websites in advance, or choose someone from the catalogue to visit. We do not require any prior knowledge!

We hope that you, whether you are new to the art audience or well-versed in the field, take advantage of this opportunity to discover something new. Get to know an artist, visit a working community, discover a new exhibition - the possibilities are many!"

In 2022 we visited some of out artists in their studios, and got to hear a bit about what they were working on at the moment. In the following films you'll get to know Pia and William, Mariia, Vigdis and Nirmal, and get som insight into their working methods.

The films are produced for Trondheim Open by Hanna Fauske with support from KORO, Norske Kunsthåndverere and Sparebank1 SMN.
