About:

Carlos Correia (1989, Seixal, Lisbon) lives and works in Trondheim, Norway. He is a multidisciplinary artist working in various media including ceramics, text-based art, installations, participatory practices, lens-based media, performance and printed matter. He holds an MA in Fine Art from Trondheim Art Academy, NTNU, Norway. In addition to his artistic practice, he runs SMØR Press, a micro-publishing house, with Joana Bruno. SMØR serves as a social platform to connect with and understand the fabric of the city, using strategies similar to participatory practices.

Carlos’ solo practice explores the realm of private space, focusing on individual identity and its interaction with collective identity within local and international political and social landscapes. He often uses repetition to delve deeper into different themes, deepening his understanding through this method. His work often serves as a commentary or critique on contemporary society, exploring themes such as labour, hierarchy and social norms.

Carlos has exhibited his work regularly, both internationally and mainly in Norway and Portugal. His work can also be found in various collections.
