Hei! Jeg heter Kirsti, og er kunstner, fotograf og blivende lektor i kunst og håndverk, med en MFA i fotografi fra Högskolan för fotografi, Göteborg, 2011. Mine arbeid utspiller seg som romlige installasjoner, der jeg kombinerer fotografier, tegninger, tekstarbeid og funnet materiale. Med andre ord, jeg bruker rommet, og i det rommet plasserer jeg ting jeg har laget, ting jeg finner, og meg og min egen kropp. Gjennom å arrangere tingene og meg selv, ved å plassere oss på en måte som gir mening for meg, og siden be inn publikum, ønsker jeg å åpne opp for undring, nysgjerrighet, og samtaler rundt hvordan vi definerer oss selv, vår hverdag og våre omgivelser.
Sammen med min mann, Erik Betshammar, har jeg også et pågående samarbeid, der vi jobber med hva fotografiet er og kan være i dag, med tanke på teknologisk utvikling og samfunnsutvikling. For tiden jobber vi med en coffee-table-bok med tittelen “Architecture in Norway”, der vi undersøker coffee-table-bok som stilmarkør, og arkitektur som statusmarkør. Etter at jeg ble mamma i 2020 var jeg aktiv i styret til Konstnärernas MammaKollektiv (KMK) fram til jeg flyttet tilbake til Trondheim høsten 2023. KMK er et svensk nyoppstartet kollektiv som jobber med å undersøke og forbedre vilkårene til kunstnere som også er mammaer. For nåværende jobber jeg også med å starte et lignende kollektiv i Norge, med utgangspunkt i Trondheim.
Jeg har blant annet vist mine arbeid alene på Galler 54 (SE), Galleri Box (SE), Skogen (SE), som del av duo på Galleri Cora Hillebrand (SE), Fotografiens Hus i Oslo, Galleri [format] (SE), Kurant visningsrom i Tromsø, Galleri Monitor (SE), og deltatt på gruppeutstillinger på Galleri Konstepidemin (SE), Høstutstillingen 2019, Galleri door (IT), National Institute of Design (IN), og Victoria and Albert Museum (UK).

Hello! My name is Kirsti, and I am an artist, photographer, and aspiring teacher in arts and crafts, with an MFA in Photography from the School of Photography, Gothenburg, 2011. My work takes the form of spatial installations, where I combine photographs, drawings, text works, and found materials. In other words, I use the space, and within that space, I place things I’ve created, things I’ve found, and myself and my own body. By arranging the objects and myself in a way that makes sense to me, and then inviting the audience in to wonder, spark curiosity, and start discussions about how we define ourselves, our everyday lives, and our surroundings.
Together with my husband, Erik Betshammar, I also have an ongoing collaboration where we explore what photography is and can be today, considering technological and societal developments. Currently, we are working on a coffee-table book titled “Architecture in Norway,” where we examine the coffee-table book as a style marker and architecture as a status marker. After becoming a mother in 2020, I was active on the board of the Konstnärernas MammaKollektiv (KMK) until I moved back to Trondheim in the fall of 2023. KMK is a newly established Swedish collective that works to examine and improve the conditions for artists who are also mothers. Currently, I am also working on starting a similar collective in Norway, based in Trondheim.
